King Edward VII Academy celebrates today as students receive their GCSE results. Students achieve incredible results, with 60% of students receiving grades of 9-4 in Maths and English and 41% achieving 5+ in English and Maths; proving to be an excellent year for the school.

Although KES Academy is delighted to have seen an increase in results vs. last year, as Ofqual announced last week, the return to pre-pandemic grading means nationally results will be lower than last summer and therefore it will be most meaningful to compare to the results of 2019. Therefore, when comparing this year’s results vs. 2019’s results, KES Academy has seen an increase of 12% in 9-4 English and Maths grades and an increase of 14% for 5+ grades.

KES Academy Students were excited to receive their results and discuss their next steps with peers and teachers. With significant investment into its facilities over the last year which has seen the creation of bespoke 21st century science rooms, a new performing arts block with theatre, and a new library, King Edward VII Academy is proud of all it can offer its students and plans to continue building on the schools growing success, creating even more fantastic opportunities for the young people of King’s Lynn.

The school has also seen an impressive increase in the percentage of 9-5 grades compared with Maths up by 12%, Sociology up by over 20%, and Chemistry up by over 20% too.

This is also the first year of the academy’s new Engineering course, and the academy is pleased to see 55% of the cohort achieve level 2 merit or above and a 100% pass rate overall.

Sarah Hartshorn, Principal at King Edward VII Academy, said:

“I am so proud of our students. In a year when nationally we are seeing results move in line with pre-pandemic figures, KES Academy continues to see results rise.

Our House Values are Empathy, Determination, Creativity, Self-belief, Passion, Teamwork, Honesty and Respect. Every one of our students has shown these traits in spades throughout the five years they have been with us. I’m confident that they will go on to achieve amazing things. We wish them all the very best for the future.

As always, I would like to thank our amazing team of teachers and staff who work tirelessly to provide an excellent standard of service for our school.”

There have not only been some exceptional individual performances but incredible progress has been made by students who have exceeded their expected grades, enabling them to progress to their next chosen stage of education.
