King Edward VII Academy celebrates high praise in Ofsted report, showcasing staff excellence, ambitious students and a rapidly improved school
BackOfsted praised the academy on its rapid approach to change, the quality of education pupils receive and the strong leadership that is in place.
King Edward VII Academy has achieved a new milestone in the development of the academy as Ofsted rates the school as “Good” across all areas, with the report recognising the rapid positive change that has taken place across the academy. Inspectors highlighted the dedication of the staff and leaders who have been responsible for taking the school from strength to strength, noting that ‘the sense of ambition is abundantly clear’.
The academy has been rated “Good” for ‘Quality of Education’, ‘Behaviour and Attitudes’, ‘Personal Development’ and ‘Effectiveness of Leadership and Management’. The Sixth Form has been rated “Good” too. These outcomes reflect the hard-work and dedication of both pupils at staff at King Edward VII Academy.
Highlighting the academy’s ‘Quality of Education’, Ofsted noted that the lessons were ‘engaging and focused’, and the ambitious curriculum was accessible for a wide range of learners, allowing pupils of all abilities to learn and develop. Inspectors complimented the leadership of the school and were impressed by the influence of this on the behaviour, culture and standards at King Edward VII Academy.

“The feedback in this Ofsted report is testament to the hard-work and dedication that staff at KES display every day for our pupils. Our vision to create an environment that allows every child to thrive – not just academically, but personally too, has been recognised with the fantastic outcomes mentioned in the report.
Our focus on creating a culture of mutual respect and understanding, is producing well-rounded and successful individuals that the entire community of King’s Lynn can be proud of”.
Commenting on the leadership of the academy, Ofsted said:
“Trust and school leaders set an ambitious pace for change. They build well on strengths and address weaknesses at speed. The academy committee and trustees have considerable expertise. They have supported the rapid improvement in the school. Leaders work hard to communicate with parents and the local community. Parental engagement and confidence are growing fast. Staff are invested in the school and the community. They feel well supported by leaders. They want the very best for pupils and are proud to work at the school”.
Ofsted went on to highlight the range of extracurricular activities and opportunities that are on offer at KES and recognise that pupils benefit from having links with local clubs such as King’s Lynn Town Football Club that offer opportunities for them to grow and develop outside of the curriculum.
Ofsted said:
“Pupils take part in a wide range of enrichment activities. Students in the sixth form take on active leadership roles including in house competitions. They help pupils in the lower school with their reading. The school develops pupils' character well. They welcome the opportunities offered to make a positive contribution to society”.
