Dafydd Humphreys

Assistant Principal (Teaching and Learning)

Dafydd Humphreys is Assistant Principal for teaching and learning, literacy, and transition at King Edward VII Academy. He is a proud member of House Lancaster-School.

Prior to joining KES on its current journey, Dafydd was Deputy Head in a "good" Norfolk comprehensive school for several years, leading on teaching and learning, staff development, curriculum, middle leadership, and quality assurance. He also worked with the Exemplary Leadership Programme and the Uncommon Schools Network on instructional coaching. Before coming to Norfolk, Dafydd was a senior leader in two schools in London including an "outstanding" 11-18 comprehensive in a leading education trust. He has led subject, pastoral and support teams at middle and senior levels, and strategies such as remote education during lockdown, more able pupil provision and the pupil premium. He also loves teaching history and geography.

Dafydd led the Early Careers Framework strategy, working closely with the Inspiration Trust Teaching School Hub for several years and the UEA’s Initial Teacher Training programme, developing many fantastic new entrants to the profession. He is passionate about education and its power to raise aspirations and prospects. He is also a huge supporter of careers and work-related learning and the power of work experience in raising aspirations and attainment in Key Stages 4 and 5.
